The many characters in The Book of Boba Fett have several notable quotes that nicely and neatly encapsulate their entire personalities.
There are few characters in Star Wars lore quite as beloved or as famous as Boba Fett, the bounty hunter. Though he seemed to die in the original trilogy, it was subsequently revealed that he had survived, rising up to eventually take over the criminal empire left behind by Jabba the Hutt. In his own series, Boba Fett soon shows that he is a formidable leader, someone committed to justice rather than barbarism.
Though Fett is the center of the show, there are a number of other important characters in The Book of Boba Fett, and they all have at least one quote that sums up their personality.
“Jabba Ruled With Fear. I Intend To Rule With Respect.”
Boba Fett is a fascinating character, and there are good reasons why he’s one of the best people in the show. More than anything else, his stature stems from his willingness to rule in a way totally different from that of Jabba and the other Hutts. Rather than trying to impose his will by force, he chooses instead to create a more just city, and this sum nicely distills his entire philosophy as a leader and a warrior. He’s the type of leader that Tatooine has desperately needed.
“In Difficult Times, Fear Is A Surer Bet.”
Fennec Shand is one of the most formidable fighters in Star Wars, as she repeatedly demonstrates. Unlike Boba, who is a bit of an idealist, she is much more ruthlessly pragmatic. While he thinks that it is possible to move away from the flawed leadership model imposed by the Hutts, she reminds him that there are times when it is actually more effective to instill fear in one’s enemies, if for no other reason than so that they do not ultimately rise up in rebellion.
Din Djarin, The Mandolorian
“That Is The Opposite Of Our Creed. Loyalty And Solidarity Are The Way.”
In addition to being the star of his own wildly successful series, Din Djarin makes a notable appearance in The Book of Boba Fett. Though he has many great quotes, this is the one that most accurately sums up his entire personality. Even though he is cast out by the other members of his order, he still holds true to the principles of loyalty and solidarity, as he makes clear when he goes to visit Grogu and give him a suit of armor that he had made for him.
“You’ve Met Every Challenge. You’ve Won Every Trophy. Is It Not Beneath You To Dismember This Unfortunate Trandoshan?”
Even though she is only a minor character in The Book of Boba Fett, Garsa still shows that she is a canny strategist and that she knows what to say in order to get people to do what she wants them to do. Here, she is talking to the vengeful Wookiee Krrsantan in an attempt to keep him from dismembering an unfortunate Tradoshan.
This quite shows how she believes that all it takes is a bit of honeyed persuasion to get someone to do what one wants them to.
“That’s What I Like About You, Mando. That Big Smile Of Yours Lets You Get Away With Anything.”
Cobb Vanth proved that he was one of the most likable characters in The Mandalorian, and he has a similar charm in The Book of Boba Fett. In this particular quote, he also shows that he has a rather irreverent approach to life and to the Mandalorian in particular. While Din Djarin is always very much on his dignity, Cobb demonstrates here that he feels comfortable enough with the other man that he can joke around with him in such a fashion.
“Running A Family Is More Complicated Than Bounty Hunting.”
Mok Shaiz is the corrupt mayor and, as such, one of the series’ villains. He is a profoundly cynical person, someone who believes that it is okay to sacrifice the well-being of his citizens so that he can get ahead. As this quote makes clear, however, he is also a bit of a canny politician, able to recognize the complexity that is an inevitable part of ruling a city and trying to maintain the peace among its various competing interests.
“You May Choose Only One. Which Do You Choose?”
Luke Skywalker is, of course, one of the most famous Jedi to have ever appeared in the Star Wars universe. By this point, he shows that he has actually not learned a great deal from the failure of the old order. As this quote demonstrates, he is still very beholden to the old system, which is why he tries to force Grogu’s hand in terms of distancing himself from the Mandalorian and all of the ties that he represents.
“Sometimes The Student Guides The Master.”
Ahsoka Tano is another fantastic character in the Star Wars universe, and like many others she has scars from her past. This quote is an excellent summation of her personality, as it demonstrates the extent to which she still remembers her own fraught relationship with her former master Anakin and the ultimate reckoning she had to encounter.
It’s a somber quote from her, and it is a reminder of just how much she has endured.
“Mind If I Count It? Not That I Don’t Trust You. I Just Want To Make Sure You Don’t Give Me Too Much.”
Amy Sedaris has been in many great roles, and it seems certain that Peli Motto will almost certainly be seen as one of those. As this quote demonstrates, she has an irreverent approach to both her life and her business that allows her to succeed and to thrive where others might not. It also shows that, however much she might be friends with someone, she’s still not going to entirely trust them.
“Consider This My Final Lesson: Look Out For Yourself. Anything Else Is Weakness.”
Star Wars is full of many villains, but there are few who are quite as menacing and dangerous as Cad Bane. He makes a meaningful and memorable appearance in this series, and he actually has a titanic showdown with Boba himself. As this quote shows, he’s the kind of person who genuinely only looks out for himself and his best interests. Anything else, as he says, is sure to bring about one’s own downfall. It’s a profoundly cynical philosophy, and it’s one that brings about his own downfall.
