The season picks up a couple months after Ian’s arrest: Fiona has her apartment building appraised in order to get money for Ian’s bail; Ian becomes a leader for the gay inmates and continues his Gay Jesus antics while in prison; Ian is eventually bailed out of jail by his Gay Jesus followers. As his court date impends, Ian is encouraged by his followers to take the case to trial in order to further publicize the Gay Jesus movement; however, Ian could face ten to thirteen years if he goes to trial. Fiona implores Ian to plead insanity to get a reduced sentence; this bothers Ford, who believes it isn’t Fiona’s responsibility to chase after Ian. In court, Ian decides to plead not guilty by reason of insanity, and he is ultimately sentenced to two years in prison. Ian discovers that Mickey is his prison cellmate, and the reunited lovers rekindle their relationship.
