This Is Us is a breathtaking example of family life and the highs and lows that come with it. Here are other TV shows and movies the cast has been in.
This Is Us is one of the best television shows around, and is one that will have people laughing hysterically in one moment, but then will make its audiences crying floods of tears in the next. The Pearson Family is far from perfect, whether it be Jack’s drinking issues or Randall’s need for perfection, but that is what makes them so relatable.
The show is a breathtaking example of family life and the highs and lows that come with that, but the reason it’s so successful is the acting that takes place. Everyone in the cast injects the right amount of heart into their characters, but outside of this show, where have you seen the cast before?
Chrissy Metz (American Horror Story)
Chrissy Metz is one of the three adult Pearson children, playing Kate. She’s a fantastic character and one who really holds things together at times, particularly for her twin brother, Kevin. She has an interesting relationship with her mother and a strong connection to her father as well.
Chrissy Metz does a great job with the character, which really balances the humor and emotional aspects to perfection. Away from the show, Chrissy has been part of another popular series in American Horror Story, being in the Freak Show season as Barbara.
Mandy Moore (Tangled)
Mandy Moore is one of the lead characters of This Is Us, playing Rebecca Pearson in both the flashback and modern-day scenes. She’s the mother of the Pearson Family and while she’s certainly flawed at points, there’s no doubt that Rebecca loves all of her children.
One element of her character is that she was a singer, and Mandy Moore gets the chance to show her vocal abilities throughout the series. It is in those moments that people might know her best, because she actually voices the Disney princess, Rapunzel in the movie Tangled.
Chris Sullivan (Stranger Things)
Chris Sullivan plays the character of Toby in This Is Us, who is arguably the funniest character in the entire show. He brings a lot of humor to the series with his brilliant one-liners that never fail to make people laugh, and while he has his own difficulties as a character too, the lighthearted nature of his personality makes him a fun element on the show.
Chris has also had the chance to appear in another popular television series, Stranger Things. He played the role of Benny, who was the owner of the store Eleven first stole food from. He’s the one who gave her the name of Eleven and treated her kindly until he met his demise.
Sterling K. Brown (Black Panther)
Sterling K. Brown is a member of the MCU, having appeared in Black Panther in a character that is totally different from how he is in This Is Us. Within Black Panther, his character N’Jobu, who was a Prince of Wakanda that tries to sell vibranium outside of the country. He is the father of the movie’s main villain, Erik Killmonger, and someone who is seen as a villain himself.
However, in This Is Us, Sterling’s character, Randall, is one of the nicest, smartest, and funniest characters. He is adopted as a boy by the Pearson Family, and he questions how he fits in throughout his life, which brings a lot of emotion to his story.
Susan Kelechi Watson (Louie)
Susan Kelechi Watson plays the wife of Randall, Beth, who is one of the best characters on the show. She’s someone who brings huge amounts of energy, sass, and charisma. She’s strong-willed and happy to stand by her thoughts and opinions, but she and Randall make a great team on the show.
Susan Kelechi Watson’s best-known role outside of this show takes place on Louie, which is a show about the comedian Louis C.K. While it is certainly an exaggerated version of his life, it is a funny show, with Susan playing his ex-wife.
Ron Cephas Jones (Mr. Robot)
As Randall’s biological father, William Hill, Ron Cephas Jones has a major role in this show in the first season, where he brings some of the most emotional parts of the series. Seeing him try to make up for lost time with his family is a heartwarming storyline, all while he battles with terminal cancer.
William provides some of the wisest comments within this show, but while he’s thoughtful and caring, he’s also a lot of fun too. Outside of this show, fans may know Ron best for his role on Mr. Robot, where he played the character of Romero.
Eris Baker (Cherry Lemonade)
Eris Baker plays the character of Tessa in This Is Us, who is the daughter of Randall and Beth, and she is someone that audiences get to see grow up on the show. She gains more opportunities as the seasons go on, and Eris plays the role really well.
While this is her breakout performance, she was also the lead character in the movie Cherry Lemonade. Baker plays the character of Phoenix in the movie, who is a tomboy that hopes to be someone different, and she ends up taking matters into her own hands.
Jon Huertas (Castle)
Jon Huertas is best known for his work on Castle, where he played one of the lead characters, Javier Esposito. The show ran from 2009-2016, which saw Jon heavily involved. The series follows a detective and novelist who fall in love while trying to work out an investigation, with Jon’s character being one of the detectives who works in the team of the lead role.
However, within This Is Us, Jon takes on the role of Miguel, who is Jack Pearson’s best friend, and down the line Rebecca’s second husband. He’s a kind soul who is put in a tough position due to the fact he is a stepfather, but he always gives his all regardless.
Justin Hartley (Smallville)
In This Is Us, Justin Hartley portrays the adult version of Kevin, who is an actor and someone who struggles to get his life together, both romantically and professionally. However, he has a kind heart and is similar to his father, dealing with his own substance addiction issues.
The character brings great humor and emotion to the show, and Justin Hartley plays it well. Outside of the show, Justin is best known for being part of Smallville, where he got to show a different side of himself, playing the Green Arrow.
Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes)
Milo Ventimiglia plays the father of the Pearson Family as Jack in This Is Us, who is someone who works hard to be the perfect husband and father. However, his issues with alcohol provide one of the biggest tests for him and makes his personal storyline a complex, yet interesting one.
Milo does a great job of making this character likable, and that’s something that he also got to do on Heroes. Milo took on the lead role in the popular series as Peter Petrelli, who was the ultimate good guy on the show, which was all about everyday people gaining superpowers, with the classic battle of good vs. evil taking place.
